Keepsake urns
Beautiful handmade Cloisonné Memorial Candle Holder. You may want to keep some ashes close, or you may want to share some with family, these are ideal.
Cloisonné Memorial Candle Holders are a wonderful way of doing this, they hold a portion of ashes and come in a lined presentation box.
They are designed to hold a standard tea light which is included with the order.
Dimensions: Height 6cm x Width 8cm
Capacity: the chamber holds a small amount of ashes approx 0.2ltr (a token amount).
Handmade from brass with a cloisonné design. This is a beautiful and ancient technique, the artisan will shape wire to the design then using a porcelain enamel paint on layers until they are the same depth as the wire, creating a unique and stunning piece.
They all feature a screw hatch for filling underneath. Due to the nature they can vary very slightly from one to another, but this is the nature of being hand crafted .
Cloisonné is a way of enamelling an object, (typically made of copper) whereby fine wires are used to delineate the decorative areas (cloisons in French, hence cloisonné) into which enamel paste is applied before the object is fired and polished.
Keeping the ashes
Many people keep their loved one’s ashes at home, some because they are not sure what to do with them, some because they are not yet ready to do something with them and some simply want to keep them close by, in the house. Sometimes, very well meaning, friends will give advice such as ‘it’s time to move on’ or ‘you’ll feel better if you scatter/bury them’. But only you will know how you feel with the loss of your loved one and only you will know when and if the time is right to do something else with the ashes.
Splitting the ashes
As long as there are no religious reasons it is worthwhile thinking about keeping some of the ashes, they can help to allow other members of the family or friends to satisfy their need to do something with the ashes whilst you get to keep some with you. This will give you more time to decide what you want to do as your feelings may change over time. Until then these urns can keep the ashes safely at home without you having to explain your reasons to anyone, if someone admires the keepsake it is up to you whether you tell them or not.
